“The theme of this year’s congress, ‘The Great Travelers Boiled into the Unifying Earth,’ symbolizes our commitment to exploring and understanding the planet’s diverse geological landscapes,” Cheong stated. “This congress is a unique platform for scientists to present their research, share knowledge, and collaborate on future studies.”
Cheong also highlighted the significance of this congress as a turning point in the history of geosciences. “We stand at a critical moment in time,” he noted. “As geoscientists, we have a unique responsibility to use our knowledge for the sustainable management of Earth’s resources, to mitigate natural hazards, and to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change. Understanding the processes that have shaped our planet over 4.7 billion years is crucial for our survival and prosperity.”
